Mom is Not Home

What else would you do while Mom is at work?

When you’re bored…

Oaklie is 2

Holy cow. I really have a hard time thinking she is two. On one hand I think, how can she possibly be growing up this fast? And on the other I think, it has only been two years!? I can’t remember what it was like without her.

She is a great little girl. I love hanging out with her, especially when I can just watch what she does. Her perfect cute face and her little body make me smile so big. I am so glad that she is a part of our family.

The day of her birthday we had family pictures with the Foote side of our family. Like I said before… it was FREEZING. After pictures we all went out for lunch. The birthday girl requested Chick-Fil-A (which I can’t complain because it is awesome). After an eventful lunch we came home for much needed naps. While the kids napped I baked and decorated dairy free cupcakes with Matt’s help. At 4pm the party began with Aunt Taylor and Aunt Lauren painting Oaklie’s nails. She loved every second of it. She chose to have a Tinkerbell party and had her favorite “Tom and Jerry friends” come as well as her family. She was so thrilled that her friend Claire was there. And since then she has often morphed into Claire for an hour or two.

We love you Miss Oaklie! Keep being smart and sweet.

Where to begin…

I cannot say I am sorry for my lack of blogging, cuz man, we’ve been having some fun! But I will say that because of the thought of not having all these fun things documented I am back.

We will start with Matt …He has been approved for his business loan! We are still in the process of finding the perfect office space for his business but he has been adjusting people from our home. It has been awesome to have Matt home and hanging out with us almost all the time. Matt turned 28 and received Bogus Basin gift cards, which I can only assume since he hasn’t used them that he is waiting until the most opportune moment to take a SNOW DAY. He has been working very hard on setting up his website and it looks awesome. With the genius help of his sister Jessica they have made this come to being:

www.highland-chiropractic.com
(be sure to read the testimonials under Results Matter, he is a wonderfully caring doctor)

Starting yesterday Matt began his second kitchen remodel at the Millward family’s home. So lucky that he is able to do two of the things he loves at the same time (chiropractic and finish/renovation work). His remodel of my family’s kitchen was amazing and finished (or nearly finished …still no back splash) just in time for the GIANT Thanksgiving feast we had at the Foote home. Way to go Matt!

If you know of some people who need a bathroom or kitchen remodeled or perhaps some chiropractic work done, I know a guy.

PRESTON! Like usual, has had a bit of a rough winter catching every single germ to come his way. BUT he is doing much better now. He is his happy crazy self. And he is LOVING the snow. He helped Matt build a snow fort and a snowbaby in the front yard. He was FREEZING afterwards but loved every second of it. Preston is also learning a TON in school. His favorites lately are the days of the week, and the months of the year songs he has learned. We also found out that he knows the pledge of allegiance! He is pretty cool. We like him. For Christmas Preston got a remote control helicopter. Every night just before bed Matt flies the helicopter around the house while Preston and Oaklie run from it laughing so hard. He also got some sweet nerf guns that he loves to shoot at our patio door. Just a few weeks ago he figured out that he can shoot the “bullets” at just about anything and they will stick. We were good at picking out his toys this year. He started Sunbeams this year! I was really worried about this transition because he was so easy to put into nursery. He has no problem running around, singing songs, coloring, and playing with toys. But he does have a hard time sitting quietly and listening. So you can see why I was nervous. He did just fine though! And he was SO excited to tell us they got to play with play-doh!

OAKLIE! She is so great. Still just as sweet and easy going as the day she came into our family. She has really gotten into Tinkerbell lately, and I never knew there were SO many movies besides PeterPan that Tinkerbell is in! We’ve really opened a new door with all this girl stuff. She is an amazing talker. Really. She can say every word that is necessary for a two year old to ever use, and then some. If she doesn’t know how to say something she can describe it very well. For example: Just this morning she asked me, “Will you please get that white stick from your bathroom and get this yellow stuff out of my ears?” Little smarty. She can count to ten, she knows quite a few of her colors, she sings the ABC’s, she LOVES to draw/color, her make-believe playing is at an all time high (most of the time she is a doggie, sometimes a cat, and others she is Tinkerbell), she loves to taunt her brother, she has an amazing memory when is comes to peoples names, and she can’t get enough of her Grammi, her Grandma, and her GG. For Christmas, we were good at picking her toys out also, she got a Tinkerbell doll, a piggy bank, and a magna-doodle. She loves them all. Especially her “doodle pad” as she calls it (we got Preston a magna-doodle too because if one child has one and the other doesn’t it is a mess. He loves his as well).

I’ve been working hard at perfecting motherhood (yeah … right), and in Beehives. We recently had New Beginnings and I had SO much fun making the handouts. And they turned out so cute that Matt made an Etsy account for me. I love doing this sort of thing, but have never been brave enough to market it. Here’s the link:

I’m hoping I can add more things to my little shop at some point. We shall see. 🙂

HOLIDAY UPDATES:

We spent Thanksgiving, as mentioned, at my parents house. There were almost 30 people there! It was awesome. So fun to see everyone all at once.

We spent Christmas in Colorado! The first Christmas in six years that the whole Ogle family has been together. The family has MORE than doubled in size since that Christmas 6 years ago. We had a fun time playing games, eating food, and enjoying the largest Christmas tree ever.

We came home to Idaho just in the nick of time to see Taylor and Zach before they left for Virginia. Man, we wish we got to see them more often. They are super cool. The Foote family got a COMPLETE family picture taken for the first time in 3 years. It was freezing cold and took us a while to thaw out afterwards. I think we’ve learned a good lesson for winter photo shoots.

New Years Eve was a blast. Matt and I were able to go (thanks to our good friends Ryan and Courtney) to Les Miserables. It was amazing. And we have been singing the songs ever since. Right after the movie we went to my families house for a delicious dinner of BBQ brisket and potatoes. Matt spent an incredible amount of time preparing the meat and it didn’t disappoint. Matt and I (like true parents of young children) only just barely made it to midnight.

So far this new year has been amazing. We are excited for all the things that are coming up this year!
